How You Can Help or Donate

Front Range Equine Rescue (FRER) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working to end the abuse and neglect of horses. We need your help. Here are some ways you can help us meet our goals:

  • Adopt a horse

  • Sponsor a horse

  • Fulfill a special needs wish

  • Make a direct tax deductible donation

  • Volunteer your time

  • Purchase FRER logo shirts

  • Purchase gift certificates from Farmer Jim’s Feed

  • Donate horse care and tack items directly to FRER

Adopt a horse:

The majority of horses rescued by FRER become available for adoption to permanent, loving, and suitable homes. Adoptive homes must be within a 3-4 hour drive of Colorado Springs as Front Range provides a pre-adoption site visit and follow up to all adoptions. Please go to our Adopt A Horse web page for adoption details.

Sponsor a horse:

Front Range Equine Rescue encourages individuals to sponsor a rescue horse during its rehabilitation phase. Sponsors are asked to provide a minimum of $25 per month (tax deductible) to help offset some of the expenses incurred with horse care. A brief bio and photo are sent to the sponsor and if sponsors live around the Black Forest area, they can arrange to visit their sponsored horse. We also welcome out of town sponsors to arrange a visit when they plan to travel in the Colorado Springs/Denver area.

Fulfill a Special Needs Wish:

Through the "Make the Difference Network" you can help make FRER's wishes come true. Use your credit card to make a donation to one or several of the wishes. Donations are tax deductible. The site is secure and 100% of your donation comes to us. Below are our twelve wishes. Click the wish(s) you want to donate to:

  • FRER's general wish

  • Arthritis Supplements for Horses

  • Build horse shelters; add paddocks

  • Crippled horse needs surgery

  • Feed a horse

  • Feed an orphaned foal

  • Rescue an abused/neglected horse

  • Save the wild horses

  • Sponsor a horse

  • Stop-the-backyard breeder program

  • Training needs for emotionally damaged horses

  • Vet care for abused horses

  • Adopt a rescue horse

Make a direct tax deductible donation:
  • Make a credit card donation via PayPal. Click the button below to donate.

  • Make a credit card donation using your American Express card. Click the button below to donate. Once you are at the American Express donation website, find "Front Range Equine Rescue" in their list of charities and make your donation. You can also setup recurring donations which would be a great way to sponsor a rescued horse. And don't forget you can earn Membership Reward points for your donation(s)!

  • Or send a tax deductible contribution by check or money order made payable to Front Range Equine Rescue.

    Mail to new address:
    Front Range Equine Rescue
    P.O. Box 307
    Larkspur, CO 80118

  • Please indicate with your donation if you do not wish to have your name/address placed on our mailing list OR do not want your name/address to be sold. And in order to keep our records up-to-date, please notify us immediately of any address corrections or other changes. Click here to send us corrected name/address information.

Note: FRER does not collect personal information about its donors. It does maintain donor records with name, address, and telephone number (if provided) in a secure database.

Volunteer your time:

FRER relies on volunteer assistance to help maintain its rescue and educational programs. Volunteer opportunities are available with horse care (cleaning stalls, paddock, turn out areas, grooming) and at educational events. Volunteers are mostly utilized during summer and fall months. Email FRER for more information.

Attention current volunteers!!! If they want to be alerted to actions, whether it's concerning wild horses or other rescue needs, join our email group. This email group is strictly for informational purposes only - such as getting important information to you quickly or sharing general updates. This is not a discussion group. If you are interested in joining our email group, contact FRER.

Purchase FRER logo shirts:

Purchase FRER logo shirts including t-shirts, polo shirts, and sweatshirts. The purchase of a shirt is a donation that goes to helping our rescue horses. You may order shirts using our online shopping cart found on the FRER Merchandise webpage. Or to order shirts through the mail send your shirt request (type, color, and size), donation, and return address to FRER, P.O. Box 307, Larkspur, CO 80118.

Purchase gift certificates from Farmer Jim’s Feed:

Purchase a gift certificate from Farmer Jim’s Feed, 719-495-4449, Falcon, Colorado, and add it to our FRER store account to help pay for feed and horse care supplies.

Donate horse care and tack items directly to FRER:
  • Donate new or used (in good condition) horse care items directly to FRER. Items could include: tack, riding gear, horse blankets, grooming items, horse feed or treats, etc. Email FRER for information on how to make a donation.
